Adaptation and inclusivity built in

0maths has been designed around adaptability:

  1. Difficulty levels
The entry point for a new topic is normally easy numbers and either a clear visual representation of the problem, or an interactive widget. From there, difficulty escalates as they get questions right, involving harder numbers and removal of the aids.
  2. Same topic, different year
Pupils in a mixed class can be doing stage appropriate work in the same topic - ie direct the kids to area and there's everything from rectangles, through triangles, kites, parallelograms, trapezia, circles and segments (and more!). Each pupil will see a list of topics appropriate to their year. There are, of course, difficulty levels within each of those topics, with stage appropriate targets.
  3. Personal adaptations
Out of the box, 0maths is more supportive than most platforms. Marking each step of the way helps adhd learners; our adrenaline-lowerign approach aids maths anxiety but also autistic spectrum disorders.

But because we care a whole awful lot, that is not all we can do, no it is not.

Pupils can customise 0maths for their particular needs. We have about 30 personal adaptations. Some affect the appearance, such as dyslexia fonts and settings, or a minimally distracting environment for ADD / ADHD. Others affect the questions asked, such as the default difficulty level, minimally different questions, or whether to push a learner or go slow.

  4. Foundation topics
At a click, pupils can go back and revisit foundation topics. We can default to these when they're struggling.
  5. Setting assignments
As 0maths gets to know each student, we can (optionally) tweak the difficulty level of each question in an assignment to each pupil's individual ability. Pupils can also be free to revert to foundation topics for topics they're unfamiliar with. This means that an assignment can be set very quickly but each pupil experiences at their own level.
  6. Worked solutions
Glossary linked worked solutions, hints and scaffolding keep the whole class moving forward.
